Hospitals will all use some form of Tight Glycaemic Control in Critical Care however the need to sample and measure other analytes is vital.
Effective calibration systems are key to the success of new Glucose monitoring systems.
Probe exhibited at the Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes in Basel
A number of speakers referred to the need to monitor glucose on a continuous basis in critical care. The need to measure IV glucose rather than some other methods was well supported along with a desire to be able to sample other key analytes e.g. Potassium at the same time.
Calibration of continuous Glucose systems and their accuracy remains a talking point and it is clear that systems will be need to demonstrate frequent automated calibration systems
